My new years resolution is to cut back on dairy. Jet's cousin is on a diet that she cut out all dairy and lost A LOT of weight. That probably wasn't the only contributing factor in the diet, but a big one from what I hear.
I'm not going vegan, I will still eat meat, though, I'm not a big red meat person, but only cutting back (as much as I knowingly can) on dairy.
It's actually fun to try to figure out non-dairy meals. Instead of cream cheese, I can have peanut butter and jelly on my bagel. Instead of mayonnaise and cheese on my sandwich, I can put hummus and so on.
It's more about focus. Having something to focus on helps me to trick myself into watching what I eat. Hopefully this will help me in making better eating choices. I've done pretty good the last few years cutting out sugar sodas and fried foods, but fried foods are my weakness. I LOVE fries and have absolutely NO will power around them.
Another thing I need to do better is exercise. Being in a desk job, I tend to be way too sedentary. Problem is, I HATE gyms and traditional "workout" routines. Walking is way more my thing. If I can incorporate walking and hiking more into my life, I'll be much more happier.
And stating that obvious that exercise helps with stress, too. A co-worker yesterday was telling me how his running habits of the last year have dramatically helped him deal with daily stress. Definitely a point that has been resonating in my head the last day or so.
